Don’t be alarmed if you see a large fire service presence in Arundel tomorrow, Wednesday. The fire service is carrying out a training exercise at Arundel Castle.
The exercise will consist of the High-Volume Pump (HVP) lifting water from the river and pumping it across Mill Road through the Lower Lodge Gate and up into a dam at the top of the castle grounds.
Mill Road will have hose ramps laid across the road and there may be a little disruption whilst this is established.
The exercise will simulate the water supply needed at a large fire involving the castle or any other significant building fire within the town.
Interesting fact… The HVP can lay 3km of 150mm hose and supply up to 7,000lpm and can be used for both fires and flooding incidents, our Aerial Ladder Platforms (ALP’s) can deliver up to 3,800lpm
