Arundel residents came together last night at the historic Hiorne Tower to enjoy an evening of music, reflection and thanks hosted by Arundel Town Council. Historical reflections and official tributes were interspersed throughout the evening by the Mayor of Arundel, Tony Hunt and The Deputy Mayor and Town Crier, Angela Standing.

As we come to the end of #VolunteersWeek, it is fitting to share these narrative galleries of photographs from the event, taken by our two volunteer photographers, Nigel Cull and Charlie Waring.

The galleries depict the evening’s events as they unfolded – from the arrival of the 137 (Java) Battery marching with the Arundel & Littlehampton District Scout Band, the performances of The Phoenix Big Band and the Ladiesthatboogie Choir to the poignant readings from the soldiers, moving service and blessing of the flame conducted by Canon David Twinley of St Nicholas Arundel, and the lighting of the Beacon by His Grace, the Duke of Norfolk.

With grateful thanks to His Grace, The Duke of Norfolk, the Norfolk Estate team for preparing Hiorne Tower and its surrounds, Team Arundel volunteers (Arundel Festival of the Arts) for logistics and marshalling support, Sunbelt Rentals Ford Depot for supplying barriers and all those participating in the evening’s programme.
