Materials and equipment are being delivered to our site compounds and you will see a significant increase in lorry movements but this will reduce at the end of August 2023.
A number of cranes will also be delivered to our compounds. Traffic will be temporarily disrupted whilst we move them into place but expect only short delays up to 15 minutes.
We have been laying a temporary road surface at River Road to protect the road and services beneath, and that work was finished on 10 August 2023 and River Road re-opened. Our contractors will now lay a similar temporary road surface at River Road Car Park. All surface protection works should be complete by Friday 18 August 2023.
We are aware that the new road surface has resulted in increased traffic noise. In the short term we will put up signage to slow down traffic and look to reduce the gradient of the ramps up to the new surface. In the longer term we will work with the suppliers to see what can be done to reduce traffic noise along the entire stretch of new surface.
Working boats and barges will be floated up the river and moored by Queens Street Bridge.
